I own a '03 Hyundai Elantra, '07 Ford Five Hundred, and a '07 Mazda CX7. All 3 vehicles claim the transmission is "Lubed for life", I choose not to adhere to that kind of neglect. I do a drain and fill of the transmission case on each vehicle when I change the engine oil. I'm able to drain 3-3.5 quarts of transmission fluid out of each of them, so it ends up being about 3 quarts of fresh fluid mixed in with 3 or so quarts of old fluid left in the torque converter. After doing that a few times the fluid is now always nice and clean. The Hyundai and Mazda both have slightly over 200,000 miles, the Ford has 240,000. They all shift nice and smooth. I also run Maxlife ATF in a 94 F150 with a 4r70w, and a 96 F350 with a E4OD. It works just fine in both of them as well. Of course they're both conventional and serviceable automatics. I get about 30,000 miles out of the fluid and filter in either of them, granted they're hauling or pulling something 95% of the time.

About 2 years ago a single mom friend of mine had a 2005 Honda Odyssey transmission issue. I test drove the car about 2 miles and when we got back to her house the tranny was slipping so badly we literally coasted into her driveway. So for about $100 in fluid, filter, and the Lucas, she is still on the road with her '05 Odyssey. This isn't terrible fluid but it's definitely not the same formula in the Honda bottles. Sure idemitsu may make the OEM Honda DW1 but this type h fluid is different. Smells different and this fluid is red where as OEM DW1 is a purple ish. If you research this fluid compare to the others you see this is lacking some things. The numbers don't match. When I used this product I noticed the trans was acting funny. Shifts felt wired and was getting a harder downshift. Also turns darker quickly. For 14 dollars a bottle no thanks. Better off going to the dealer paying 10 a qt for the OEM stuff like I recently did, happy to say my trans performance is back to normal after doing 3X drain and fill of the DW1.Honda trans are picky, better off using the OEM. I'd use this in a emergency only if I HAD TO.
